Serology

The diagnostic identification of antibodies in the serum of Avian blood utilising ELISA and agglutination based testing. Antibodies are typically formed in response to either the vaccination or the infection of the bird in question. Serology is utilised to determine whether a sample is free of antibodies, the efficacy of a vaccination or whether a flock has been exposed to a field challenge. CAL has commissioned the establishment of a modern, semi-automated laboratory which utilises BioChek ELISA kits. The laboratory is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited (T0606) for AIV, NCD and SE as well as DAFF approved (DAFF-52) [Quality].
