Mycotoxin Analysis

Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolic products of fungi present on almost all agricultural products. Mycotoxins are produced by different strains of fungi, and more than one toxin can be produced per strain. It is also possible for more than one fungus to affect an agricultural product. There is therefore a high probability of multiple mycotoxins occurring in a product which can lead to the occurrence of synergistic effects. Because of their toxic effects on humans and animals, mycotoxins are among the most dangerous contaminants in the food and feed sector. CAL offers a definitive testing solution with the use of liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Sample extraction makes use of immuno affinity columns with their advantage of high recovery and matrix removal. CAL routinely analyses a diverse sample set from animal feeds and their raw materials to spices and food products.
